In this preview, the Cincinnati Reds take part in the Field of Dreams Game. FC Cincinnati will strive to keep up their winning ways. While the Cincinnati Bengals have their preseason debut.
What’s happening this week
The Cincinnati Reds will reunite with a former teammate this week. Taking on the National League East-leading New York Mets in New York. In a three-game series several days after the Reds traded outfielder Tyler Naquin to the Mets. This series will also feature a Diaz family reunion. Between Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz and Reds reliever Alexis. Both made history back in May by recording saves on the same day. By becoming the third pair of brothers to record saves on the same day.
After their road trip to the Big Apple, the Reds head to Iowa. For the Field of Dreams game this Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. After a classic inaugural game between two contenders last year. This year features a game between two teams striving to avoid last place. The National League Central features a tight race for first between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.
There is also a tight race for third between the Reds, Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. Cincinnati heads into Monday third in the division. Half a game ahead of Pittsburgh and a full game ahead of Chicago. Presenting higher stakes for Thursday’s game than the Reds and Cubs’ records would suggest. The Reds will return to Cincinnati and resume their series against the Cubs Saturday. During the Reds off day Friday, the Cincinnati Bengals will have their preseason debut. Hosting the Arizona Cardinals at Paul Brown Stadium at 7:30 PM.
