The Midsummer Classic festivities begin in earnest this weekend in Arlington, TX. As pitcher Rhett Lowder and left-handed hitter Cam Collier represent the Reds organization in the Futures Game. Featuring American and National League team’s top prospects. Lowder has split time between Single-A Dayton and Double-A Chattanooga this season. His season began well in Dayton with a 2-0 record and a 2.49 earned run average. That average spiked to 5.24 after a 1-4 stretch in Chattanooga. Collier is currently with Dayton, hitting 13 home runs and 48 RBIs in 75 games this season.
FC Cincinnati vs Charlotte FC

After routing Inter Miami at home 6-1 last Saturday. League-leading FC Cincinnati hosts Charlotte this Saturday. Going into this week, FC Cincinnati leads Major League Soccer with 48 points. Holding a one-point lead over Inter Miami in the league standings. Charlotte ranks sixth in the Eastern Conference and 12th in the league with 32 points.
Elsewhere on the FC Cincinnati beat, Miles Robinson will be part of the U.S. National Team’s Olympic roster. The FC Cincinnati defender recently played on the USMNT’s Copa America roster. Robinson will be the first FC Cincinnati player to compete in the Olympics. The USMNT will begin their Olympic campaign against host nation France on July 24th. Two days before the opening ceremony in Paris.
APGA at Cincinnati Tournament
The Advocates Professional Golf Association is hosting a tournament in Cincinnati this week. Founded in 2010, the APGA strives to open up more opportunities to golfers from diverse backgrounds. The APGA at Cincinnati tournament runs Monday and Tuesday at Glenview Golf Course.
Wimbledon
Tennis’ third grand slam tournament concludes this weekend in England. The defending Cincinnati Open singles champions Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic are contending in Wimbledon. Gauff and her doubles partner Jessica Pegula will compete in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. They will face Elise Mertens and Hsieh Su-wei at a time to be determined. In the ladies singles tournament, Gauff lost to Emma Navarro in last Sunday’s round of 16. Djokovic plays Holger Rune in the round of 16; Monday at 12:15 PM.
Daily Wimbledon coverage can be seen on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN+ and Tennis Channel. ABC will air coverage this weekend and daily internet coverage is available via Wimbledon.com. On a local note, organizers for the Cincinnati Open will be hosting a Wimbledon watch party this Sunday. The party will be at Cincinnati’s Washington Park from 9 AM-1 PM. No tickets or registration is necessary, the event is open to the public.
