Western and Southern Open

The W&S Open is underway at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, OH. Featuring top ranked players and rising tennis stars. Including Cincinnati area natives JJ Wolf and Peyton Stearns. Wolf will play Alex de Minaur the round of 64. The Australian de Minaur was the runner up in last Sunday’s Canadian Open men’s singles final. Where Italy’s Jannik Sinner, also competing in Mason, emerged victorious. The winner will play either Cameron Norrie or Gael Monfils.

Stearns qualified as a wildcard and will play Daria Kasatkina in the round of 64. The winner will play Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina or Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki in the round of 32. Both returned to tennis this year after giving birth in recent years. Stearns and Wolf will be among several prominent American competitors in Mason. Americans in the women’s tournament include Jessica Pegula. She won the Canadian Open singles title last Sunday. Coco Gauff, Sloane Stephens, Venus Williams will also compete this week.

Americans in the men’s tournament include John Isner, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe. Along with Brandon Nakashima, Ben Shelton and others. Shelton beat his doubles partner Christopher Eubanks to advance to the singles round of 32. Shelton will take on Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in that round. Top ranked players Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz will compete in the W&S Open.

Other high-profile W&S Open competitors will include Novak Djokovic. He, Alcaraz and Swiatek will be among several 2023 grand slam winners and finalists in this tournament. Along with this year’s Wimbledon women’s champion Marketa Vondrousova. Wimbledon women’s runner-up Ons Jabeur will also compete. Along with Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka.

The W&S Open continues through this Sunday. More information on the tournament is available at the W&S Open’s website. W&S Open coverage can be seen this week on Tennis Channel, T2 and Bally Sports’ regional networks. Tennis Channel will have coverage every day through Sunday’s finals. Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons

Friday at 7:30 PM on WKRC-TV (12), WCKY-AM (1530) and WEBN-FM (102.7). Along with other Cincinnati Bengals Television and Radio Network affiliates.

Along with seeing how Cincinnati Bengals players will fare on Friday. There will be several Falcons players of local interest to watch. From Falcons quarterback and University of Cincinnati alumnus Desmond Ridder. To former Bengals safety Jessie Bates III and cornerback Tre Flowers. All three will likely play in Friday’s game.

FC Cincinnati at Columbus Crew

Sunday at 7:30 PM on Apple TV-free, FS1 and WCKY-AM (1530).

FC Cincinnati returns to MLS action after roughly two weeks off. After being knocked out of the Leagues Cup on August 4th. FC Cincinnati will take on their “Hell is Real” derby rivals in Columbus. The Crew rank sixth in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference. Heading into this week with 36 match points. FC Cincinnati leads MLS with 51 points, through 15 wins, two losses and six ties. Eight points ahead of the overall second-place New England Revolution.
