Update: Thursday’s match was suspended in the second half due to severe weather. The match will resume Friday at 2 PM on Apple TV and WCKY-AM (1530). Fans with tickets for Thursday’s match will not be allowed into TQL Stadium for Friday’s resumption. Due to the tight turnaround and to prioritize safety for players, coaches and matchday staff. FC Cincinnati led the match 2-0 at the 59:39 mark when the weather delay began.
FC Cincinnati leads their Leagues Cup group, going into their group stage finale on Thursday. After their penalty shootout win over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday night. Getting two points while Kansas City has one. Liga MX’s Chivas rounds out the Central 3 group; they had an opening matchday bye. FC Cincinnati can advance to the knockout stage with a regulation win on Thursday.
In Sunday’s game, FCC trailed 2-0 before scoring through an own goal in the 34th minute. That goal came moments before a weather delay halted play at Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium. Brandon Vazquez scored the equalizer in the 56th minute. Gadi Kinda helped Kansas City re-take the lead in the 69th minute. Then Luciano Acosta tied the match in stoppage time with a penalty kick goal. Sending the game to the decisive penalty shootout, which FCC won 4-2.
The Basketball Tournament
The Xavier regional portion of The Basketball Tournament wraps up today. With Cincinnati’s alumni Nasty Nati team taking on The Program for Autism. In the regional final at Xavier’s Cintas Center. Tonight’s tip-off is set for 7 PM on ESPN+. Nasty Nati advanced through a 77-73 win over Xavier’s Zip ‘Em Up team last Saturday.
Cincinnati Bengals Training Camp
The Cincinnati Bengals begins training camp this Wednesday. With the first of ten overall open practices. The Bengals’ first three open practices will happen on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. At the Kettering Health Practice Fields, located across from Paycor Stadium. Gates will open at 1:30 PM and practice will start at 2:15 PM. Saturday’s practice will be at Paycor Stadium and require a ticket. Gates at Paycor Stadium will open at 1:30 PM and practice will start at 2:15 PM.
FIFA Women’s World Cup
The United States Women’s National Soccer Team takes on the Netherlands Wednesday. In a rematch of the 2019 final that will take place in Wellington, New Zealand. Wednesday’s match will kick off at 9 PM on FOX and Telemundo. Both teams head into Wednesday with three match points. The USWNT leads Group E through goal difference. Through beginning their World Cup campaign with a 3-0 win against Vietnam last Friday. While the Netherlands beat Portugal 1-0 last Sunday.
