MLS All-Star Game Week

Major League Soccer’s all-star festivities are taking place this week in Washington D.C. Three FC Cincinnati players will participate in Wednesday’s MLS All-Star Game. Luciano Acosta, Alvaro Barreal and Matt Miazga. Acosta will be the MLS All-Star Team’s captain and participate in the skills challenge. The skills challenge and all-star game will feature the MLS All-Star Team and England’s Arsenal FC. Tuesday’s skills challenge is set to start at 7:30 PM at D.C. United’s home Audi Field.

The MLS NEXT All-Star Game will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM on MLS NEXT’s TikTok account. That game will take place at the Naval Academy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, MD. FC Cincinnati’s MLS NEXT team will be represented by Stiven Jimenez and Ryder Mills. Playing in a match between East and West conference all-stars. The MLS All-Star Game takes place Wednesday at 8 PM on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass.

2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The FIFA Women’s World Cup begins this week in Australia and New Zealand. The United States Women’s National Soccer Team begins their quest for a historic three-peat this Friday. With their opening group stage match against Vietnam at 9 PM. Friday’s match can be seen on FOX, Telemundo and Peacock. The USWNT and Vietnam are in Group E with the Netherlands and Portugal.

The Cincinnati area will be represented by Rose Lavelle and Aubrey Kingsbury. Lavelle will be playing in her second World Cup. The midfielder has been recovering from a knee injury that left her sidelined since April. Kingsbury is set to make her World Cup debut. The St. Ursula High School alumna will be one of the USWNT’s three goalkeepers. Meanwhile, Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium will host a friendly between the USWNT and fellow World Cup participant South Africa. That match will take place on September 21st.

The Basketball Tournament

Xavier’s Cintas Center will once again host a regional for The Basketball Tournament. TBT features college basketball alumni teams competing for charity and a $1 million prize. Xavier’s regional will feature Xavier’s Zip ‘Em Up team. Along with the Nasty Nati team, comprised of University of Cincinnati alums. Both teams will play in the evening part of a first-round quadruple-header on Friday.

Nasty Nati will play the Money Team Friday at 6 PM. Zip ‘Em Up will play Georgia Kingz Friday at 8 PM. If Nasty Nati and Zip ‘Em Up win their Friday games. They will play each other Saturday at 8 PM at the Cintas Center. All Xavier regional games from Friday until next Monday will be streamed on ESPN+.
