FC Cincinnati
After a 1-1 draw in Vancouver last Saturday. Concluding a stretch of nine matches from May 10-June 10. FC Cincinnati will get a much-needed week and a half long break. Their next match will be at home against Toronto FC on June 21st. That match is set to start at 7:30 PM. FC Cincinnati continues to lead Major League Soccer with 40 points. Winning 12 of their 17 MLS matches so far heading into this break.
U.S. Open Golf
Golf’s third major of the year will be contested this weekend. At the Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, CA. This year’s U.S. Open comes after a wild week for Golf. With the PGA Tour, LIV Golf Tour and DP World Tour announcing a merger last Tuesday. The week concluded with Nick Taylor becoming the first Canadian in 69 years to win the Canadian Open.
Coverage for the U.S. Open can be seen on NBC, USA Network and Peacock. Coverage for the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday begin at 9:40 AM on Peacock. Coverage from 1 to 8 PM shifts to USA Network. Then NBC will have primetime coverage starting at 8 PM. Saturday’s coverage will begin at 1 PM on NBC. Final round coverage on Sunday begins at Noon on Peacock. NBC’s Sunday coverage will begin at 1 PM.
College Sports
University of Cincinnati Track and Field closed out their 2023 season over the weekend. With five Cincinnati Bearcats competing in the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Austin, TX. Senior Fred Moudani-Likibi placed third overall in men’s shot put. Breaking his program record with a 20.54-meter throw. Moudani-Likibi and senior Taylor Beard earned first team All-America honors.
Beard finished 8th in women’s high jump, her sophomore teammate Annika Kinley finished 21st. Beard is now a four-time High Jump All-American. Junior Leonie Troeger and redshirt senior Rylee Penn closed out their seasons last Thursday. Troeger finished 17th overall in women’s javelin with a 50.02m throw. Her personal best at the outdoor national championships. This was Troeger’s second national championship appearance. Penn finished 20th overall in the women’s 1500-meter race, in her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut.
