College Sports
Miami (OH) and Northern Kentucky’s Softball seasons concluded over the weekend. Miami was knocked out by their regional host Northwestern last Sunday 5-4. Northern Kentucky were swept out of the tournament. Losing to their regional host Tennessee last Friday. Then losing to Louisville on Saturday, concluding NKU’s first ever NCAA Division I Softball Tournament appearance. No teams of local interest will compete in the Super Regional round this coming weekend. With Louisville, Indiana, Kentucky and Notre Dame’s seasons also ending in the regionals.
Meanwhile, College Baseball’s postseason is revving up this week. With Xavier, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati Baseball competing in their conference tournaments this week. Xavier Baseball will host the Big East Tournament at Prasco Park in Mason, OH. Xavier will face No.3 seed Seton Hall Wednesday at 6:30 PM on FloSports. The Big East Tournament will continue through Saturday in Mason.
Northern Kentucky Baseball will face No.6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne. Wednesday at 4 PM in the Horizon League Tournament in Dayton, OH. That tournament will continue through Saturday evening. Cincinnati will face No.4 seed UCF in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Coming up Tuesday at 9 AM in Clearwater, FL.
In Track and Field news, Xavier and Cincinnati will compete in the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Running Wednesday through Saturday at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, FL. The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place this week. It will be one of the last NAIA competitions Thomas More University competes in before moving fully to NCAA D-II. Running Wednesday through Friday in Marion, IN.
Indianapolis 500
The 107th Indianapolis 500 will take place this Sunday. The race can be seen on NBC with coverage starting at 11 AM. Pre-race coverage on Peacock will start Sunday at 9 AM. The race itself is set to start at 12:45 PM. Alex Palou will be in the pole position on Sunday. Marking the first time a Spaniard will have the top spot for the race. Last year’s Indy 500 champion Marcus Ericsson will start in the fourth row.
