While the Cincinnati Bengals are making their moves at this week’s NFL Draft. FC Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Reds have been making significant moves in recent weeks. All with their respective future aspirations in mind.

The Cincinnati Bengals opted to give their defense a boost. By drafting Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy. With the 28th overall pick in Thursday’s first round. Cincinnati gets a pass rusher through drafting Murphy. During his three-year career at Clemson, Murphy recorded 116 tackles and 18.5 sacks. Last year, Murphy matched Jeremiah Trotter Jr. for a team-high 6.5 sacks. He also recorded 11 tackles for loss last season.

Cincinnati can operate in a more relaxed way in this draft week compared to recent years. The Bengals are not in the position of the Carolina Panthers. Who are drafting players this year to get that franchise back into contention. Instead, Cincinnati is striving to stay contenders this week. Exercising the fifth-year option on Joe Burrow’s rookie contract. While potentially drafting players to improve their roster’s resilience.

The Bengals can still find a promising running back. To fill the vacancy left by Semaje Perine’s departure and fill in if needed for Joe Mixon. The Bengals also have room to draft a promising tight end after Hayden Hurst’s departure. Drafting Northern Kentucky native Michael Mayer is still an option going into Friday. Cincinnati can draft a tight end with more college experience than Mayer instead or both.

Meanwhile, FC Cincinnati forward Brenner Souza da Silva will be heading to Italy this summer. After FC Cincinnati and Serie A club Udinese agreed to a transfer on Wednesday. This transfer sets a club record for FC Cincinnati as the most lucrative transfer yet. FCC will get at least $10 million in this deal. Brenner has played for FC Cincinnati since 2021. Brenner’s last game with FC Cincinnati is set to be July 1st against the New England Revolution at TQL Stadium. FC Cincinnati will face New England in Foxboro, MA this week; with first place in MLS’ Eastern Conference on the line. While Brenner will be missed by FC Cincinnati fans. This deal could help FC Cincinnati make future moves to improve the team. To make them a contender for years to come.

Unlike FCC and the Bengals, the Reds are striving to become contenders. One way the Cincinnati Reds are trying to improve is through extending Hunter Greene’s contract. The Reds and Greene reached the extension last week. Helping the Reds through retaining one of their best starting pitchers. On a team that needs starters that can go deep. Due to the Reds often shaky bullpen staff. Green’s extension was one of the few good stories the Reds had last week.

During that week, the Reds set the record for the lowest attended game in Great American Ball Park’s history. Cincinnati also endured a six-game losing streak. There’s also the uncertainty surrounding their TV broadcasting rights. With all of that in mind, the Reds’ need all the good news they can get. Greene’s extension and Cincinnati’s recent sweep over the Texas Rangers provides positive momentum.
