After their weather-delayed first loss of the season at St. Louis last weekend. FC Cincinnati returns home and strives to return to their winning way this weekend. Taking on the Portland Timbers at TQL Stadium this Saturday. FC Cincinnati will also strive to get back into first place in MLS’ Eastern Conference. They’re now tied with the conference leader New England Revolution with 17 match points. Both teams also have 5-2-1 records heading into this week. New England has the edge in goals scored and goal differential.
U.S Men’s National Soccer Team vs. Mexico
Wednesday at 10 PM on TBS and HBO Max in English. Plus, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock in Spanish.
Three FC Cincinnati players will be on the USMNT’s roster for a match this Wednesday. The United States will host Mexico in Glendale, AZ. In the inaugural Allstate Continental Clasico. FC Cincinnati goalie Roman Celentano is on the roster. Along with defender Matt Miazga and forward Brandon Vazquez.
Kelly Cup Playoffs: Cincinnati Cyclones vs. Fort Wayne Komets
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM on FloHockey and cycloneshockey.com.
The Cyclones start their Kelly Cup Playoffs run this Friday. After going 47-16-9 in the regular season. Cincinnati will have home ice advantage for the divisional semifinal round. As the ECHL’s Central Division champions host No.4 seed Fort Wayne in games one and two. Cincinnati would host games six and seven if necessary.
College Sports
Several local college golf teams will compete in their conference championships this week. For Cincinnati, the American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship runs Monday-Wednesday in Brooksville, FL. The AAC Men’s Golf Championship will be in Belleair, FL this Friday-Sunday. Xavier’s women’s golf team will compete in the Big East Championships. That event is taking place in Hardeeville, SC Monday-Wednesday. Northern Kentucky’s golf teams will compete in the Horizon League Championships this Sunday. Both events will take place at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Lake County, Florida.
Xavier and Cincinnati will also compete for their respective conference tennis titles. Cincinnati’s Women’s Tennis team will compete in the AAC Championships in Lake Nona, FL this Wednesday-Saturday. Xavier’s Tennis teams will compete in the Big East Championships in Cayce, SC. The women’s tournament will run from Thursday-Sunday. The men’s tournament will run from Friday-Sunday. Thomas More’s tennis teams will compete in the Mid-South Conference Tournament. Starting Thursday at Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, KY.
Meanwhile, Cincinnati Track and Field will compete in the Jesse Owens Classic. In Columbus, OH this Friday and Saturday. After senior throwers Leonie Troeger and Fred Moudani broke their own school records last week. Troeger broke her javelin record with her 53.43 meter throw last weekend. Winning second place overall at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, FL. Moudani surpassed the school record he set earlier this month. With a 19.35 meter throw last weekend.
Elsewhere in local college sports, Mount St. Joseph baseball will face Miami University (Hamilton). Thursday at 6 PM at Foundation Field in Hamilton, OH. MSJ will host a Track and Field invitational Saturday at Noon. Thomas More’s Track and Field teams will also compete in that event. Xavier’s women’s soccer team will wrap up their Spring Cup exhibitions this Saturday. Xavier host the Spring Cup Final along with third and fifth place games. Dayton, Ohio, Louisville, Michigan State and Bowling Green are also taking part in this event.
