FC Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia Union

For the first time ever, FC Cincinnati is in first place in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference. Climbing into first through their 1-0 home win over Inter Miami last Saturday. Through that win, FC Cincinnati improved to a 4-0-2 record. Now FC Cincinnati will strive to continue their winning ways against their conference’s defending champions. While Philadelphia knocked FCC out of the playoffs last year. FCC beat and had a draw against Philadelphia in the last regular season. Philadelphia heads into Saturday’s match in eighth place with a 2-3-1 record.

Cincinnati Cyclones

After their franchise record 21-game points streak was snapped last Friday. The Cyclones quickly returned to their winning ways; through beating the Wheeling Nailers last Saturday and Sunday. The Cyclones will face the Toledo Walleye in Toledo this Friday at 7:15 PM. On Saturday, the Cyclones will have their regular-season home finale. Hosting the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday at 7:30 PM at the Heritage Bank Center. Cincinnati will face the Indianapolis Fuel on Easter Sunday at 4 PM. College Basketball

The NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Tournament concludes Monday in Houston, TX. With Connecticut facing San Diego State in the National Championship Game. Tip-off is set for 9 PM on CBS and Westwood One Radio. Last Sunday, LSU won the women’s DI championship 102-85 over Iowa in Dallas, TX. Earlier in the weekend, Dallas also hosted the NCAA Division II and III Women’s Basketball Championship Games. Northern Ohio-based Ashland University won the DII women’s championship. Lexington KY’s Transylvania won the DIII women’s championship; Transylvania and Ashland completed undefeated seasons through their title game victories.

College Sports

The 13th Joe Nuxhall Classic will happen this week. With games featuring several local college baseball teams. On Tuesday, Cincinnati Baseball will face Wright State in Oxford, OH. First pitch in that game is set for 2 PM. Miami (OH) Baseball will host Xavier in Oxford, OH Tuesday at 7 PM.

Northern Kentucky Softball will host Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at 4 PM. On Thursday, Northern Kentucky Women’s Soccer will host Kentucky at 7:45 PM. Both of those events will be on NKU’s campus in Highland Heights. On Saturday, Northern Kentucky Men’s Tennis will host IUPUI in Horizon League action. The action starts at 12:30 PM at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, KY.

Thomas More Softball will host a double-header against Shawnee State (OH) this Friday. With games at 2:30 and 4:30 PM. TMU Softball will host another doubleheader against Shawnee State on Saturday at Noon and 2 PM. TMU Men’s and Women’s Tennis will host Freed-Hardeman University (TN) this Friday. Then they will host Bethel University (TN) Saturday at 4:30 PM. Friday and Saturday’s matches will happen at Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills.

Mount St. Joseph Softball will host a double-header against Asbury University (KY). Those games will be Thursday at 3:30 PM on 5:30 PM. MSJ Softball will also host a double-header against Hanover College Saturday at 1 PM and 3 PM. Mount St. Joseph Baseball will host a series against Transylvania University. Game one will be Friday at 6:30 PM. The other games in the series will be Saturday at 1 and 4 PM. All of the games in that series will be played at the University of Cincinnati.
