Cincinnati Football hires Scott Satterfield to be head coach

The University of Cincinnati is hiring Scott Satterfield to be their new head football coach. Satterfield is the outgoing head coach of Louisville Football. Whom the Cincinnati Bearcats are set to face in the Fenway Bowl on December 17th in Boston, MA. In a renewal of their Keg of Nails rivalry. Satterfield has a 76-48 record in his ten years a college head coach. Before taking on the Louisville Cardinals job in 2019. He was Appalachian State’s head coach from 2013-2018.

Satterfield coached Appalachian State to three-consecutive conference titles. Winning the Sun Belt Conference’s Coach of the Year award in 2018. Then the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Coach of the Year award a year later. Satterfield had a mixed record of success in Louisville. Going into bowl season with a 25-24 record coaching the Cardinals. His tenure in Louisville is bookended by winning seasons. An 8-5 record in 2019 and a 7-5 record this year.

The Cardinals had a 4-7 record in the pandemic 2020 season. Along with a 6-7 record last year, that includes a loss in the First Responder Bowl. That’s currently the only loss in his five bowl games so far as a head coach. There’s no indication he’ll coach Louisville in the Fenway Bowl. Satterfield is set to be introduced as Cincinnati’s head coach today at 1 PM at Cincinnati’s Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns

Sunday at 1 PM (all times Eastern) on CBS, WLW-AM (700), WCKY-AM (1530) and WEBN-FM (102.7).

After their 27-24 home win against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals will strive to win the home leg of the Battle of Ohio rivalry this coming Sunday. The Cleveland Browns walloped Cincinnati in their Halloween showdown in Cleveland. The Bengals offense spent that game adjusting to wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase’s absence. Chase returned yesterday after missing a month of action due to a hip injury. Meanwhile Jacoby Brissett was Cleveland’s starting quarterback for the Halloween game. Deshaun Watson will presumably be Cleveland’s starting quarterback this week.

Watson returned from an 11-game suspension yesterday. That suspension was prompted by investigations into sexual assault and harassment allegations surrounding Watson. Along with the suspension, an injury resulted in him missing all of last season. Making yesterday Watson’s first game in roughly two years. This Sunday, Watson won’t have the luxury of facing the struggling Houston Texans. He and the Browns will have to face a Bengals team that just beat two AFC title contenders. Hungry to get a season split against their cross-state rivals and keep division title hopes alive.
