Soccer

After FC Cincinnati lost 4-3 at Montreal last Saturday. FC Cincinnati will have the next two weeks off. Their next match will be June 18th at the Philadelphia Union. Meanwhile, FCC’s home TQL Stadium will host an international friendly this week. The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team hosts a FIFA World Cup tune-up match against Morocco. Coming up Wednesday at 7:30 PM Eastern on ESPN2.

College Baseball

The NCAA DI Baseball Tournament’s bracket will be unveiled Monday at Noon Eastern on ESPN2. Few teams of local interest will be featured in this tournament. Xavier might be the only one of the three greater Cincinnati DI programs in the field. Though that’s not guaranteed, since Xavier lost the Big East Championship to Connecticut last Sunday in Mason, OH. Xavier went into that tournament as a No.3 seed and hold a 33-27 overall record. Even if Xavier doesn’t appear in the NCAA Tournament. The Xavier Musketeers have had an impressive season.

Xavier’s 27 runs scored last Saturday is the most in a game since Xavier joined the Big East. Senior first baseman Luke Franzoni set records and earned several conference accolades. Franzoni was named the Big East’s Player of the Year. He also won the conference championship’s Jack Kaiser Most Outstanding Player trophy. Franzoni was also one of four Musketeers on this year’s Big East All-Tournament Team. Joining teammates Andrew Walker, Jack Housinger and Jerry Huntzinger. As a team, the Musketeers scored a program-high 450 runs this season.

Cincinnati Baseball were knocked out of the AAC Tournament last Friday. After losing to Tulane and previously losing to eventual tournament champions East Carolina. Meanwhile, Wright State won the Horizon League title. Beating Northern Kentucky Baseball last Thursday En route to the title. Northern Kentucky was ultimately knocked out a day later by Youngstown State. While Wright State won an automatic bid. Louisville earned an at large bid and will host one of the regional tournaments.

Florence Y’alls

After a road trip to Quebec last week. The Florence Y’alls are back home this week for a six-game home stand. Florence plays the Washington Wild Things Tuesday through Thursday. The Y’alls will wrap up the home stand at Florence’s Thomas More Stadium this weekend. Taking on the Lake Erie Crushers Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
