In this first edition of the weekly preview, the Cincinnati Reds return after a successful road trip. FC Cincinnati and the Florence Y’alls prepare for trips to Canada. While College Baseball’s conference championship week arrives.

Reds wrap up road-trip and Votto’s Toronto homecoming with impressive moments
The Reds wrapped up their recent nine-game road trip on a winning note. Beating the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre 3-2 Sunday afternoon. Through Reds first baseman and Toronto area native Joey Votto’s eighth inning solo home run. Votto returned to the lineup in the Toronto series opener last Friday. After spending most of the month on the COVID-19 virus list.
Meanwhile, Reds starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft had a good major league debut. Ashcraft gave up four hits, two earned runs and struck out three-consecutive batters in 4 1/3 innings. Along with all of this, Aristides Aquino had a good Sunday too. Opening up the scoring with a first inning two-run double. All part of the efforts that helped the Reds go 5-4 in their recent road trip.
FC Cincinnati
FC Cincinnati will strive to get back to their winning ways this week. After their four match MLS regular season winning streak concluded last Saturday. Through their 3-2 loss at home to the New England Revolution. FC Cincinnati will face Montreal this Saturday at Montreal’s Saputo Stadium. Kicking off at 7:30 PM Eastern on WSTR-TV (64), ESPN+ and WCKY-AM (1530).
Miami Ohio Softball
The Miami RedHawks run in the NCAA DI Softball Tournament is over. Miami wrapped up their season with a 5-4 loss to Blacksburg regional hosts Virginia Tech last Saturday. Earlier in the day, Miami shut out St. Francis (PA) 4-0. A bounce back win in a must-win game for them. After losing to Kentucky 15-1 last Friday to start the double-elimination regional round. The RedHawks conclude this season as the Mid-American Conference’s regular season and tournament champions. With a 40-17-1 overall and 24-5 conference record.
Xavier Baseball
It’s conference tournament time for greater Cincinnati’s major college baseball teams. Xavier will be hosting the Big East Baseball Championship at Mason, Ohio’s Prasco Park this weekend. The action will run from Thursday through Sunday. Xavier heads into the tournament third in the Big East standings. With a 13-8 conference and 31-25 regular season record. Xavier takes a four-game winning streak into the tournament.
The Big East’s top four teams advance to the double-elimination tournament. No.3 seed Xavier will face No.2 seed Creighton Thursday at 6:30 PM Eastern. Depending on how the Xavier Musketeers fares Thursday. Xavier will play either the winner or loser between top seed Uconn and No.4 seed Georgetown Friday. Cincinnati Baseball
The Cincinnati Bearcats will play in the opening game of the AAC Baseball Tournament Tuesday. The No.4 seed Bearcats will play No.5 seed Tulane. First pitch at Clearwater, FL’s BayCare Ballpark is set for 9 AM Eastern on ESPN+. Cincinnati will play either No.8 South Florida and top seed East Carolina. If Cincinnati loses, they will play Wednesday at 3 PM Eastern on ESPN+. If Cincinnati wins, their next game will be Thursday at 1 PM Eastern on ESPN+. Northern Kentucky Baseball
Northern Kentucky heads into the Horizon League Baseball Championship as the No.6 seed. The NKU Norse will face No.3 seed UIC Wednesday at 4 PM Eastern on ESPN+. In a win or go home game at Wright State’s Nischwitz Stadium in Fairborn, OH. If NKU wins, the Norse will face hosts and top seed Wright State Thursday at 11 AM Eastern on ESPN+. Florence Y’alls
While Joey Votto had his Ontario homecoming against the Toronto Blue Jays last weekend. The Florence Y’alls wrapped their opening home stand against another team from Ontario. The 3-5 Y’alls won two out of three against the Ottawa Titans last weekend. Marking the team’s first series win this season. Earlier in the week, the Y’alls lost back-to-back games against the New Jersey Jackals.
Florence will head up to Canada this week for their opening road trip of this season. Taking on the Trois-Rivieres Aigles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:05 PM Eastern. Florence will play the Quebec Capitales this Memorial Day weekend. Playing Friday and Saturday at 7:05 PM Eastern. Then wrapping up the series Sunday at 5:05 PM Eastern.
