Cincinnati Reds start September in a rut

The Cincinnati Reds head into Labor Day in an uneasy spot. After spending most of the summer playing like a contender. The Reds have lost six of their last eight games heading into today. Losing two out of three to the Detroit Tigers at home this weekend. After losing two out of three at home to the St. Louis Cardinals earlier in the week.

The Tigers series is the fourth consecutive series loss for the Reds overall. Cincinnati is now a half game behind the San Diego Padres. In the race for the second National League wild card team. With the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cardinals close behind Cincinnati. Philadelphia is 2.5 games behind Cincinnati going into Monday. The Cardinals-aided by their series win in Cincinnati last week- are three games behind the Reds.

Cincinnati will spend this upcoming week on the road with two divisional clashes. Starting today with a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. Today’s game is set to start at 2:20 PM Eastern. Tuesday and Wednesday’s games are both set to start at 7:40 PM Eastern. After an off day on Thursday, the Reds meet the Cardinals for a three-game series this weekend. Friday’s series-opener is set to start at 8:15 PM Eastern. Saturday’s game is set to start at 7:15 PM Eastern; Sunday’s first pitch is set for 2:15 PM Eastern.

No.8 Cincinnati Football wins Victory Bell and invite to Big 12

One of College Football’s most historic rivalries returned last Saturday. With the 125th playing of the Battle for the Victory Bell. Between No.8 Cincinnati Football and Miami (Ohio) Football. Cincinnati wrapped up the game with a 49-14 victory at their home Nippert Stadium. With Cincinnati taking a lead they would not relinquish within the opening minute. Through Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder throwing a career-long 81 yard touchdown to Tre Tucker. Cincinnati went into the fourth quarter leading 35-0.

The game marked the kickoff of a season with big expectations for Cincinnati. After their unbeaten regular season and American Athletic Conference championship last year. Plus, their first trip to a New Year’s Six Bowl in the College Football Playoff era. Miami went in with high hopes of a season opening upset. Along with hopes of maintaining their overall series lead against Cincinnati. A lead chipped away by Cincinnati’s 15 consecutive Victory Bell wins. The series is now tied 59-59-7 going into next year.

Next up for the Cincinnati Bearcats, a home game against Murray State Football this Saturday. Kickoff at Nippert Stadium is set for 3:30 PM Eastern on ESPN+. Next for the Miami RedHawks, a road game against Minnesota Football this Saturday. Minnesota is coming off a season opening home loss to Ohio State Football. Saturday’s kickoff between Miami and Minnesota is set for Noon Eastern on ESPNU.

Back on the Bearcats beat, Cincinnati could soon be a member of the Big 12 Conference. Cincinnati is among four teams receiving an unofficial invite to the conference. The other three schools being Brigham Young, Houston and Central Florida. The formal process for Cincinnati to join the Big 12 could take several years to complete.

FC Cincinnati lose through late goal to Inter Miami

While the Reds find themselves struggling with a late slide. FC Cincinnati’s has been quite familiar with late slides of their own throughout this season. The orange and blue have struggled to stop late goals throughout this season. Regardless of whether FC Cincinnati has the lead late or not. Last Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Inter Miami was another one of those matches.

Miami’s Brek Shea scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute. Shea holds the distinction of scoring the first goal at FCC’s TQL Stadium back on May 16th. Saturday’s loss is FC Cincinnati’s third consecutive overall. Next up for FC Cincinnati, a home match against Toronto FC on this Saturday. Tokyo Paralympics close

The 2020 Tokyo Paralympics wrapped up Sunday. Team USA finished third in the gold medal count with 37. While finishing fourth in the overall medal count with 104. Joining China, Great Britain and the Russian Paralympic Committee as the only teams to exceed 100 medals. Team USA won 36 silver medals and 31 bronze medals in Tokyo.

Local Paralympians Emmy Kaiser and Lawrence Sapp didn’t make it on the medal podium. Kaiser lost her opening round Wheelchair Tennis singles match on August 28th. Sapp competed in swimming events last week to conclude his Paralympics debut. Sapp finished fifth in his 200m medley SM14 heat last Monday. He also finished fifth in his 100m backstroke S14 heat last Wednesday.

Cincinnati Bengals putting finishing touches on Week 1 roster

The Cincinnati Bengals made their final preseason roster cuts last week. Trimming it down to 53 players after training camp and their preseason games. Now the attention turns towards Cincinnati’s season opener this Sunday. As the Bengals host the Minnesota Vikings at Paul Brown Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 PM Eastern on FOX.
