In this week’s review, the Cincinnati Reds are postseason bound. Two Cincinnati teams tie two teams from Philadelphia. Plus, Cincinnati Football wins a top 25 showdown and there will be “MACtion” this fall.

Cincinnati Reds clinch postseason berth

The Cincinnati Reds not only produced Cincinnati’s best sports moment of the year to date. They gave their region perhaps the best news overall it’s had yet in 2020. In a year packed with bad news in the sports world and elsewhere. The Reds will make their first MLB Postseason appearance since 2013 this week. Clinching their postseason berth last Friday night in Minneapolis.

Cincinnati will face the Atlanta Braves in a best-of-three series in Atlanta this week. Starting Wednesday at Noon Eastern time on ESPN and the Reds Radio Network. The Reds won’t get to play any postseason games at their home Great American Ball Park this year. Atlanta and all higher seeds will host all of the games of their respective wildcard series’. After the Wildcard Series, the rest of the postseason will unfold in neutral sites. The winner of the Atlanta vs. Cincinnati series will face either the Chicago Cubs or Miami Marlins. In the best-of-five National League Divisional Series in Houston.

Cincinnati goes into the postseason as the National League’s seventh seed. Finishing the regular season with a 31-29 record; in their first winning regular season since 2013. A month ago, the Reds postseason hopes were in a rough spot. On and off-field developments were draining the fun out of their season. The Reds reversed course by winning five consecutive series to close out the regular season. Cincinnati finally began to play like the contending team many expected them to be this year. Playing with the sense of urgency they were lacking earlier in the season.

The Football Review

The Cincinnati Bengals have been involved in four of the 11 NFL ties of the 21st century to date. With last Sunday’s 23 all tie against the Philadelphia Eagles being the latest. Putting both teams at 0-2-1 with this season’s first tie game. Cincinnati’s offense continued a trend from the Andy Dalton era. Starting off with several drives that ended with a punt.

In local college football news, Cincinnati Football remains unbeaten and in the AP Top 25. Beating then No.22 Army Football 24-10 last Saturday at home. Despite the win, Cincinnati dropped from 14th to 15th in the latest edition of the AP Top 25. Elsewhere, Miami-Ohio Football will try to play a fall season. After the Mid American Conference announced plans last week to play football this fall. Reversing course on a previous decision to postpone a fall football season. Last week, the Pac 12 and Mountain West Conference’s also announced plans to play football this fall.

FC Cincinnati rocked by shutouts and a positive COVID-19 test

FC Cincinnati is emerging from a rough weekend. Defender and Cincinnati native Nick Hagglund announced he tested positive for COVID-19. On the pitch, FC Cincinnati lost 4-0 on the road last Saturday to NYC FC. Last Wednesday, FCC battled to a score-less draw at home against the Philadelphia Union. An ironic result in hindsight because of the Bengals vs. Eagles game. FC Cincinnati’s next match is this Saturday at Minnesota United FC. That match kicks off at 8 PM Eastern on WSTR-TV.
