Cincinnati Reds enter home-stretch of regular season
The last week of this Cincinnati Reds regular season is upon us. Cincinnati heads into this final week within earshot of a postseason berth. The Reds would qualify for the MLB Postseason if it started Monday morning. They would be the National League’s eighth seed as a wild card; in this year’s expanded 16 team postseason field. Heading into Monday 4.5 games behind the National League Central leading Chicago Cubs. While tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for third place in the division. Both teams are going into this week with .500 records.
Cincinnati’s coming in hot from perhaps their best week of the season yet. Sweeping the last place Pittsburgh Pirates in a four game series. Then winning two out of three against the American League Central leading Chicago White Sox. Cincinnati won eight of their last ten games heading into Monday. The best ten game stretch in the National League.
The Reds are hoping to continue their hot stretch to close out this regular season. Hopefully with their Opening Day starting pitcher Sonny Gray back for Tuesday’s game. Gray was put on the ten day injured list earlier this month due to a back injury. Cincinnati starts a three game series against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight. To close out Cincinnati’s last home stand of this regular season. It’s Cincinnati’s best chance left to leap past the Brewers in the standings. The Reds will close the regular season with three games against the Minnesota Twins.
