Cincinnati Bengals avoid a winless season

For the first time in roughly a year, the Cincinnati Bengals are celebrating a victory. After beating the New York Jets Sunday 22-6 at Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium. Giving Zac Taylor his first victory as a head coach in the National Football League. This was a game where everything finally clicked together for Cincinnati. With a highlight-packed day on offense, defense and special teams.

On offense, quarterback Andy Dalton set two franchise records. In the first quarter, Dalton surpassed Ken Anderson with his 198th touchdown pass. He broke another Ken Anderson record in the second quarter. Setting the Bengals record for the most career completions. All in Dalton’s first game as the starting quarterback after being benched.

Elsewhere on offense, it was an active day for receivers Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate. Boyd caught Dalton’s record-setting first quarter touchdown pass. While Tate led the Bengals with 66 receiving yards. Cincinnati later found the end zone with a Joe Mixon rushing touchdown. Helping the Bengals take a 17-6 lead into halftime.

Cincinnati’s defense kept the Jets out of the end zone and the red zone. In particular, two Bengals made Sunday a difficult day for Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. Carlos Dunlap led the game with three sacks and Sam Hubbard had one. Elsewhere defensively, William Jackson III led the game with eight solo tackles. Cincinnati also benefitted from a Jets offensive blunder. Through a Jets safety scored through a holding penalty in Cincinnati’s end zone. Solid Kevin Huber punts also helped the Bengals defensive efforts.

Next up for the Bengals, the first leg of this season’s Battle of Ohio. With Cincinnati traveling to face the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.

Cincinnati Football wraps up the regular season

While the Bengals won their first game of the season on Sunday. Cincinnati Football lost their first conference game this season. Losing to Memphis Football on the road last Friday evening. Memphis began the game in the best way they could. By returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

Despite their rough start, the Cincinnati Bearcats wouldn’t go down easily. The Bearcats battled back from a double digit deficit before halftime. However, A Memphis interception in the final minutes effectively ended the game. This now sets the stage for a rematch in Memphis this coming Saturday. In Cincinnati’s first American Athletic Conference Championship Game appearance.

The College Basketball weekly roundup

Ironically, Cincinnati will battle for the AAC football title as the Crosstown Shootout tips-off. Cincinnati Basketball’s Thanksgiving week was packed with overtime suspense. Beating Valparaiso last Monday and UNLV this past Saturday in overtime games. No.25 Xavier Basketball rebounded from their first loss of the season this weekend. With a blowout home win against Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon.

Cincinnati and Xavier will have one more game before Saturday’s Crosstown Shootout. Cincinnati hosts Vermont Tuesday night at 7 PM Eastern time. Xavier will host Green Bay Wednesday night at 7 PM Eastern time. Meanwhile, Northern Kentucky Basketball walloped Midway by 30 points last Monday. While losing 66-60 on the road to Arkansas this past Saturday. Northern Kentucky will face two regional mid major schools this week. Facing Miami (Ohio) on the road this Tuesday; then hosting Eastern Kentucky this coming Sunday night.
