Move over Brexit, another mess is about to hit Great Britain. That mess is the currently winless 2019 Cincinnati Bengals. Preparing to face the Los Angeles Rams in London this Sunday.
Sunday’s game will feature at least two noteworthy reunions. The first being a reunion for Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. Facing the franchise that really brought him fame. Through his role as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach last season. A season that wrapped up with the Rams playing in the Super Bowl.
Another reunion is between the Bengals and one of their former players. Rams tackle Andrew Whitworth is that former player. Whitworth was drafted by the Bengals in the 2006 NFL Draft. Spending 11 seasons in Cincinnati before the Rams signed him in 2017. Whitworth remains a force on the field and charitable off the field.
This will be Cincinnati’s first game in London since 2016. When the Bengals took it to overtime and tied with the Washington Redskins. The Bengals will be the clear underdog this Sunday at Wembley Stadium. Cincinnati’s heading into Sunday’s game with an 0-7 record. They are now one loss away from their worst start since 2008. Facing a Rams team that’s looking for a boost in their competitive division. After the Rams snapped their three-game losing streak last week.
There are several keys to Sunday’s game for the Bengals. First, the Bengals defense will need another strong start. Following up one of their best performances of 2019 last week. When the Bengals kept the Jacksonville Jaguars from scoring in the first quarter. Cincinnati’s defense will face a tougher test against the Rams’ stellar offense.
On offense, Cincinnati will have to contend with Aaron Donald. One of the best defensive tackles in the National Football League. A good passing game will be key for the Bengals this Sunday. This will be a tall task for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. After throwing three interceptions last week at home against the Jaguars. The Rams and the Bengals are roughly even in the passing yards allowed category. While Cincinnati is allowing 93.1 more rushing yards than the Rams this season.
Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium kicks off at 1 PM Eastern time on CBS.
